The analysis of long-term rainfall shows that more than 800,000 hectares in the Slovakia suffer moisture deficit. Irrigation systems on 350,000 ha have been built. The course of rainfall and temperature over the last years shows that these decisive factors are worsening. In comparison to the long-term average the rainfall decreased, while temperatures rose by 0.5 %. This has increased evapotranspiration and since rainfall was lower, the moisture deficit has increased. The moisture deficit has caused multibillion crown losses over the last years. The drought impacts not only on agricultural, but also on water and forest management, environment and social field in particular regions. The immediate consequence of the drought are: decrease in yields by 20-30 %, decrease in animal products, increase in price level of agricultural and food products, decrease in export, decrease in confidence in domestic and foreign markets. The supposed climate changes call for elaboration of agricultural production strategy in particular regions, in the field of economy, legislation and organization.
