Changes in level of gibberellin-like substances during vegetative growth and flowering of mango (Mangifera indica L.) cv. Khiew Sawoey
1989

Gibberellin-like substances in shoot tips of non-flowering trees were higher than the flowering ones. Gibberellin-like substances were not detectable from 6 weeks before flower bud emergence. Nitrogen content in shoots of non-flowering trees was higher than the flowering ones. Total nonstructural carbohydrates (TNC) in shoots of both flowering and non-flowering trees did not show any difference. Carbohydrate and nitrogen ratio (C/N ratio) was similar to the TNC trend. Gibberellin and nitrogen contents in shoot tips of mango play an important role in flowering control while TNC and C/N ratio do not produce a prominent effect.
