Study on efficacy of neem seed extracts on insect pests of soybean

Seedling stage of 7, 14 and 21 days old. Neem extract gave the controlling results as the application of 0.15 % prothiophos. During the vegetative stage, leaf folders (Lamposema spp) were found to attack the plant and there were no seed extracts and 0.15 % monocrotophos. Neem seed extracts, were observed to exert fair controlling result against leaf hopper (Empoasca sp.) where its effective result was significant lower than that of monocrotophos during the dry season. No statistical difference in every treatment during the rainy season. For southern green stink bug (Nezara viridula L) neem seed extracts did not show any effective control both at vegetative and reproductive stage, while at podding stage, neem seed extracts could not be concluded whether it could control soybean pod borrer (Etiella zinckenella) and (Maruca testularis) which damaged the pods. The yield of soybean grown in the rainy season was higher than in dry season. During the dry season, the yield from the monocrotophos at the concentration 0.15 % insecticide-sprayed field was more highly significant than other treatments.
