The effect of nicotine acid amide and methionine was examined, which were ingredients of the Hepasteril preparation, on cortisol and insuline level in blood of Holstein cows. Cortisol level in control and both experimental groups was before treatment 12.47-15.65-23-82 nmol/l. On the day of partus, the cortisol level in all groups was significantly higher, it decreased after partus, mostly in control cows, and at the end of the experiment it was 15.51-26.84-29.59 nmol/l/. Insulinemia in the control and both experimental groups was before treatment 10.87-8.88-11.45 mU/l. On the day of partus, insulin concentration decreased very significantly in control group and group 2. After partus, insulinemia showed tendency to increase so that it was close to initial values at the end of the experiment in control and in group 1, while it remained on a lower level in group 2
