The major small grain pests in Vojvodina (Yugoslavia) are: the corn ground beetle (Zabrus tenebrioides), the cereal leaf beetle (Lema melanopus) and rodents (Microtus arvalis, Arvicola terrestris). These pests were controlled by chemicals in the season 1994/1995. In the period of 1986 to 1995 year the corn ground beetle has been controlled in average on the acreage of 5,700 hectares or 2.8 of the acreage under the crops. The cereal leaf beetle was controlled on the acreage 23,700 ha or 11.6. The rodents, which have overproduced recently, were controlled on 62,000 ha or 30.3 of the acreage under the crops. Wheat cultivars Evropa, Evropa 90, Francuska and Milica expressed medium resistance to the cereal leaf beetle.
