Finding of agglutinin for B. bronchiseptica [Bordetella bronchiseptica] in blood serum of artificially infected piglets

Blood serum of artificially infected piglets and piglets in cohabitation was used as material for the research. Studies were performed at 15-day intervals until 165th day of infection. Five different agglutination procedures to prove agglutinin in blood serum of experimantal animals were used. The investigations showed that different agglutination procedures can prove antibodies to Bordetella bronchiseptica in blood serum of infected piglets and piglets in cohabitation. The obtained results indicated a high degree of correlation between the applied procedures. The level of antibodies increased after infection, reaching maximum values on the 45th day of infection, and remained evident, with a tendency of a slight decline, until the 165th day of infection. The highest percentage of positive findings was obtained using the method to Kemeny (98.1), and the highest titer when live culture of B. bronchiseptica was used as antigen.
