Antigua and Barbuda national Caribbean Amblyomma programme: workprogramme and work plan 1997-1998
1997
This tick is found throughout Antigua and infests cattle and other domestic livestock. Heartwater has been confirmed on Antigua and dermatophilosis is a severe problem. The twin island of Barbuda is apparently free of the tick. This programme involves the use of Bayticol to control the spread of the pest on the island and to other islands and mainland America. Animal owners rather than the government staff are responsible for applying two weekly treatments of Bayticol over a period of two years. The government will give extensive support to animal owners
