Yield-1 is mainly governed by non-additive effects along with low heritability. Improvement in yield is difficult to achieve and the consideration of yield components may provide a better basis for progeny evaluation. The number of pods plant-1 and the number of peas pod-1 are important characters followed by mean seed weight. The number of pods plant-1 is predominantly governed by additive effects. The number of peas pod-1 displays high heritability and high genetic advance. The mean seed weight displays high heritability with predominant additive effects, however, larger seeds tend to about in greater frequency than smaller seeds. Various relationships have been observed among the yield components. Selection for number of peas pod-1 and number of pods plant-1 could result in substantial improvement in seed yield where these two characters are positively correlated.
