The effect of different organic manures on soil fertility

The first field experiment was performed with 8 different organic manures (cattle dung with and without litter, pig slurry, peat compost formed from hen and pig slurry, sawdustduck manure, noncomposted peat and straw with pig slurry or with NH4NO3). The effect of organic manures depended on the background of mineral fertilizers and had a considerable effect against a nonfertilized background. Cattle dung with and without litter had a considerable effect, particulary against a background without mineral fertilizers. Peat compost with hen slurry and straw with pig slurry or with NH4NO3 had also a certain effect against the 0-background. Since pig slurry acts mostly as a liquid nitrogen fertilizer, it had no essential aftereffect. Noncomposted peat manure had no effect on the yield
