Comparison of sugar beet quantity between the sugar beet producing regions of Hungary

The yields (beet yield (t/ha), sugar content (), sugar yield (t/ha)) of the non-irrigated sugar beet production of Hungary were analyzed on the basis of the farming data of the 1986-1991 period. The field data were grouped according to geographical mesoregions. 10 regions were involved in the examination, where at least 30 sugar-beet fields were situated annually. Total of 403952 ha sugar beet producing area was analyzed on the basis of 5938 fields. The objective of our examination was to determine the regions where the yields were regularly and significantly higher or lower than in other regions. The average yields of the regions were compared with Bartlett-test and the method of "comparison of more than two means, obtained from unequal number of observations". Significant differences could be calculated between the yields of the regions
