Effect of cluster size of carrot seed on growth, yield, and quality of carrot

英语. The experiment aims to find out the best method of carrot seeds selection. The study was conducted at Berastagi Horticultural Research Station from January through March 1994. Several sizes of cluster carrot seed were tested of its growth, yield, and quality of the root. The results indicated that cluster carrot seed sizes affected the growth, yield and quality of the root. To ensure of good yield and quality of the root, it should be used seed from cluster carrot seed size of more than 8 cm. The seed yielded about 7.46-7.90 kg/2.4 square m root or equal to 31-33 t/ha and of good quality root. This kind of technology serves as a simplest method to select seed in the field

印度尼西亚. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan sumber benih yang baik untuk wortel. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Subbalai Penelitian Hortikultura Berastagi dari bulan Januari sampai dengan Maret 1994. Sumber benih wortel diambil dari pertanaman yang dibedakan menurut lebar atau ukuran kuntumnya. Benih langsung ditanam lagi dan diamati pertumbuhan, hasil dan mutu umbi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa benih berasal dari ukuran kuntum berbeda memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman, hasil dan panjang umbi wortel. Untuk mendapatkan hasil umbi yang tinggi dapat digunakan benih asal kuntum dengan diameter lebih 8 cm. Benih tersebut menghasilkan umbi antara 7,46-7,90 kg/2,4 m persegi per musim, atau setara dengan 31-33 t/ha dan dengan mutu umbi yang baik.
