Fertility evaluation of zinc content and comparison of reaction and efficiency of various zinc sources in southern Iraq soil

Studies were conducted in (22) calcareous soils to evaluate the efficiency of various extractants (acid mixture; EDTA+NH4OAC; EDTA+(NH4)2CO3; DTPA+NH4HCO3 and DTPA+CACL2) and to find critical levels of soil and plant Zn of corn (Zea mays L.). The content of total Zn for all the soils varied from (8.63-70.89) ppm with the mean value of (42.18) ppm. The order of extractability by the different extractants was EDTA+NH4OACDTPA+CACL2DTPA+NH4HCO3EDTA+(NH4)2CO3acid mixture. The DTPA+CACL2 method gave the best correlation with all growth parameters, suggesting its efficiency for predicting soil available Zn in calcareous soils.
