[Goat farms in Latvia and their mechanization: the present situation, problems and solutions]

The value of goat milk for people's health is explained. Goatbreeding in Latvia at present including the number of goats, the technology of goatkeeping, feeding and milking is discussed. The existing goat farms and their problems are described. The necessity to produce goat milking equipment is considered. A portable goat milking unit based on the cow milking machine ODS-1-01M is presented. It is stated that goat milk production could be a perspective branch of agriculture in this country as according to EU information goat milk is deficient for goat cheese production in the world.
