The book comprehensively describes of the Meat Industry in Namibia from 1835 till 1993 and the main constraints faced by the livestock sector. The meat industry contributes about 75 per cent of the agriculture contribution to GNP. More than half the Namibian population relies on agriculture for livelihood, the commercial sector employing 30,000 people and the non-commercial sector being the means of survival through extensive farming with cattle and small stock. In addition, the manufacturing sector is a major employer and contributor to GNP through adding value to livestock products both for export and domestic consumption.
