The effect of seed treatment on emergence, growth, yield and yield of sugar beet was conducted during 1987-88 at NWFP Agricultural University. Sugar beet cultivar K.W polybeta seed was soaked in water for 24, 48 hrs and indole butyric acid (IBA) at 50 P.P.M. The data was recorded on emergence, root weight per plant, root thickness, sucrose content, root length, leaves per plant and sugar beet yield/ha. Emergence, number of leaves per plant, leaves weight per plant, root length, root thickness, sucrose content and sugar yield/ha were highest in the plant treated with indole butyric acid (IBA) and 24 hrs soaking. Maximum root yield of 63.70 and 63.66 tons per ha was obtained in 24 hrs soaking and indole butyric acid (IBA) at 50 P.P.M treated seed.
