As an effect of irrigation, the yield of roots increased by 20 percent whereas watering and high doses of nitrogen enhanced the yield of sugar beet by 108 and fodder beet by 113 percent, and of their leaves by 159 and 136 percent respectively. As the optimal nitrogen dose 150 kg N/ha on not irrigated plots and 180 kg N/ha on irrigated ones is recommended. The productivity of 1 kg N/ha was bigger on irrigated plots; the highest productivity was found when 120-150 kg N/ha had been applied.
