Changes of some chemical and physico-chemical properties of the Ketrzyn black earth as the influence of intensive nitrogen fertilization

Concentration of nutrients and physicochemical properties of soil were only to a slight degree modified as the results of the nitrogen fertilization. Total rates of nitrogen higher than 500 kg N/ha in the five-year crop rotation caused a significant increase of the H(+) ions in the sorption complex and resulted in a significant decrease of the concentrations of the Ca(2+) and Mg(+) exchangeable cations in soil. The most essential effect on the reduction of the sorption capacity of base cations was found for N fertilization. Applied phosphorus rates significantly increased the content of available compounds of this nutrient in soil
