Influence of orchard cultural practices on mineral composition of apple leaves and fruit. Pt. 5. Influence of rootstock, planting density and fertilizing level on leaf mineral content in irrigated orchard

The research was performed during four years on 5-8 year old McIntosh and McSpur apple trees. It aimed to establish the influence of MM106, M7 and M26 rootstocks, two planting densities, two levels of fertilization and irrigation on leaf N, P, K, Ca and Mg content. Irrigation water was applied through overhead sprinklers. The irrigation decreased N and Mg and increased P and Ca leaf content, whereas the level of K was not affected. The effect of watering was dependent on the type of rootstock, level of mineral fertilization, abundance of rainfall in summer and age of the trees.
