Soils developed from bog iron ore

In the territory of Poland in the post-boggy conditions soils from the previously formed bog iron layers can be developed. These are the soils of the ABox, Box and II Cgg structure of specific physico-chemical and chemical properties as well as of a non-typical for the post-boggy conditions water management. The content of Fe2O3, amounting to 50% in the ABox and Box horizons and to hardly 0.10-0.16% in the II Cgg horizons, a low saturation of the sorption complex with the exchangeable bases, the prevalence of the Mg sup(2-) cations over the Ca sup(2-) ones in some horizons and the trace amounts of changeable potassium in the sorption complex are the characteristic features of these soils
