Arboreal mites (Acari) and epiphytes of young scots pine forests in the region polluted by a chemical factory "POLCHEM" in Torun

The polluted plots were situated at distances of 1.0 km (plot 1), 2.0 km (plot 2) and 3.8 km (plot 3) from the pollution source, and a control plot was chosen 23.0 km from this source. The samples of 100 square m in area were taken in spring and autumn of 1990 and 1991, in 10 replications, from each of 3 vertical sections of Scots pine stems: lower (10 cm above the soil), middle and upper section (above the third terminal whorl of branches). The covering of epiphytes was assessed, and then the mites were collected by scraping the outer part of tree bark
