Selection of organic inputs for soil fertility management

A framework for the systematic study of organic inputs is presented that includes socioeconomic and biophysical characterization, network field trials, and modelling. The end product would be a decision support system for use in selecting the more appropriate organic inputs and their management for a given cropping system, soil type and environment. In addition to the framework, current research on the potential of organic inputs for meeting crop demands is summarized.
