In preparation is the new law on gene technology, which will regulate work with genetically modified organisms in contained system, deliberate release and placing on the market of these organisms as well as gene analysis and gene therapy on humans. Therefore, this law will also cover genetically modified plants. The need for such a law is governed by the development in biotechnological knowledge and recent applications and by the need of the harmonisation with similar regulations in the countries of EU. In the present contribution will be presented the part of a law that covers genetically modified plants.
