24 stray dogs and 57 cats were examined postmortem in the city of Kosice in 1991-1992. Six stray dogs and 14 stray cats were examined by the same method in the area of the Tatra National Park. Kinds of helminths were determined as well as qualitative and quantitative status - with dogs (Toxocara canis, Dipylidium caninum, Mesocestoides lineatus and Taenia hydatigena, T. crassiceps and T. pisiformis ) and with cats (Toxocara cati, Uncinaria stenocephala, Dipylidium caninum, Hydatigera taeniaeformis, Mesocestoides lineatus and Taenia crassiceps). The results link up the analyses of about 400 animals from the years 1964-1972. Toxocarosis of dogs was assessed too. It is becoming a threat also for man in urban areas, present as larval toxocarosis - larva migrans visceralis in man
