A total of 7,857 lactations in primiparous cows and 3,815 lactations of cows after 4th and 7th calving were analysed. The model of covariance analyses contained fixed effects: herd, year of calving and genotype group (without this effect in the Slovakian Pied breed). The age at 1st calving (with primiparous calws) and lactation order (with adult dairy cows) were concominant variables. The content and the production of dry matter in milk were analysed, and dairy cows of Slovakian Pied breed, Holsteinized Black Pied breed and their crosses from combination crossing and grading up were compared. The primiparous cows as well as the adult cows of the Slovakian Pied breed had statistically significantly (P less than 0.01 or P less than 0.55) the highest content of dry matter in milk (12.89 and 12.82 g per 100 g). Converse trend was in the total production of dry matter; the Slovakian Pied dairy cows produced less dry matter than Holsteinized Black Pied (the primiparous cows 429.93 and 579.42 kg, the adult dairy cows 549.13 and 706.87)
