Rakusan, H. (Stredni Odborne Uciliste Lesnicke Trebnice, Dublovice (Czech Republic))
The paper is loosely linked with the report on Education of Czech hunters and the issuing of forest ordinance published in Folia Venatoria (23/1993). The paper reports on the origin of forestry schools and professional preparation of game managers following events from their beginning up to the present. Attention is paid to the importance being attributed to the connection of the right to exercise game management in 1848 with the ownership of land for amateur hunters and united organizations of game management which were then coming into existence. At the same time, with the appearance of amateur game managers, national professional literature is appearing. Special attention is paid to text-books on game management. In conclusion some ideas are given for the improvement of education in game management
