Possibilities of decreasing the negative influence of magnesite flue dust on blood composition and fattening bulls production

Possibilities of eliminating the negative influence of magnesite flue dust by administering antidotes and marking their influence on blood composition and fattening bulls production were studied. 72 bulls were divided into 3 groups of 24: the control group K fed the feed mixture HZB, the experimental group P1 fed the feed mixture fortified with 5 % dicalcium phosphate (DCP), and the group P2 fed the feed mixture enriched with fat from a rendering plant (5-8 %). Haematological and mineral profiles were determined in blood serum. The occurrence of occasional to profuse diarrhoea dominated during the first two months of the experiment. Skin alopecia and diseases of the locomotor system were other clinical changes. Haemoglobin concentration was on the lower level of reference values in all animals during observations. At the beginning of the experiment erythrocyte values were at the level inducing anemia. The number of erythrocytes varied within the reference span. Haematocrit and leucocytes did not differ significantly during observations. Ca level in blood serum was under the physiological level at the beginning of the experiment. A significantly higher amount of Ca was in blood serum of the P2 group in June (P less than 0.01). Phosphorus dynamics in blood serum were of the same course in the observed groups until June. Daily weight gains were as follows: group K 0.799 kg, group P1 0.818 kg, group P2 0.875 kg. The antidotes improved feed consumption and carcass yield.
