Land classification in disturbed forest for land reform: Case study: Amphoe Mungakeeree, Changwat Khon Kaen

Main objective of this study is to seek the suitable land in disturbed forest for the agricultural purposes by land classifications. There are 6 factors to be considered: Watershed classes, Slope, Soil depth, Salinity, Present land used and Soil fertility. The scoring between 1-4, intead of value of each factor were employed in the classification of land. The results of classifying the quality of the land at Amphoe Mungakeeree, Changwat Khon Kaen are as follows:- The highest quality and most suitable land consisted of 438,750 rai or 72.5 % of the study area. The medium quality of land consisted of 106,875 rai or 17.7 % of the study area. The lower quality of land consisted of 5,000 rai or 0.8 % of the study area. The lowest quality of land consisted of 55,000 rai or 9 % of the study area. The usage of average interval score from this studies could not summarize the influence of the effective variables on production of rice, but the basic principle could be applied to the other areas.
