Growth analysis of some pepper (Capsicum annuum L.)
1992
Panumart Sripacharavut
Only 81 accessions were classified into 3 Species: Capsicum annuum L., C. frutescens L. and C. baccatum L. and 4 groups based on their fruit characters: sweet pepper (12 accessions), big chilli (35 accessions), hot pepper (16 accessions) and ornamental (18 accessions). The promising accessions were C 00270, C 00344, C 00131 of sweet pepper; C 00001, C 00006, C 01160 of big chilli; C 00263, C 00268, C 00312 of hot pepper; and C 0633, C 00490 of ornamental. Growth of 3 pepper groups (sweet pepper, big chilli, hot pepper and ornamental) showed similar pattern in growth and dry weight accumulation but not in each part. CGR and NAR of three pepper groups showed inconsistency throughout the experiment. At the early stage RGR, LAR and SLA were quite high and then decreased as the plant grew alder. The highest HI was obtained in sweet pepper while the lowest was in hot pepper. The LAI was increased up to 50 days after transplanting. The relationship between LAI and CGR, CGR and NAR, CGR and TDW, HI and TDW, NAR and RGR, RGR and HI, RGR and TDW were linear except LAI and TDW.
