Study is set out with the objectives to evaluate the potential in transfer and farmers' adoption of technology in Phichit and Phetchabun provinces. The study consists of 4 major parts; 1) experiment on level of inputs, 2) circumstance of farmers, 3) verification trials, and 4) demonstration plots. The study was carried out during crop season of 1988-1989. From the farmer's interview, it is found that the socio-economic situation of the farmers in the area are very similar. Though there are some differences in the production methods that could separate farmers into two domains. The experimental results indicate that hybrids out-yielded the check variety (Suwan 2). An application of fertilizer (16-20-0) showed positive yield response. Planting with hybrid varieties gave higher net benefit than using Suwan2 in Phichit. In Phetchabun, however, the yield were not significantly different among treatments. An increase in levels of production inputs resulted in low net benefit. It is interesting to note from farmers' interview after the completion of the demonstration trial that farmers did adopt some production technologies especially an adoption of hybrid and an application of fertilizer.
