The yield and quality of fodder grass (Galega orientalis Lam.) in agroecological conditions of Backa region [Yugoslavia]

During the tests 1991/94 under the conditions of dry farming, it was obtained: in the plant year out of two swaths 32.5 t/ha green mass and 7.4 t/ha hay. In the 2nd crop year, out of three swaths, it was obtained 36.76 t/ha green mass and 13.42 t/ha hay, in the 3rd crop year it was obtained 68.68 t/ha green mass and 13.75 t/ha hay (beginning of blooming stage). Stem height (beginning of blooming stage) ranged from 106 cm (1st swaths) in the crop seeding year to 129.8 cm in the 4th year of life. Stem height (2nd and 3rd swaths) in all test years ranged from 56 to 105 cm (2nd swaths) and 58.9 - 61.2 cm (3rd swaths). Leaf-stem ratio was 55:45 (all swaths averages in 1991/94). Average content of dry matter (beginning of blooming stage) was about 23 and crude proteins in dry matter 27 (buttoning stage) and 25.9 (beginning of blooming stage).
