The subject of the study was the effectiveness of different Azotobacter species in two sugar beet varieties. Sugar beet plants were grown in Mitscherlich's pots filled with calcareous chernozem for the entire duration of their growth and development. The effectiveness depended on the Azotobacter species as well as the sugar beet genotype. Azotobacter chroococcum proved to be the most effective species in both of the varieties. All of the Azotobacter species, for their part, were the most effective in the case of the variety NS-HY 11.
