The influence of 23 vine rootstocks on the properties of the variety Red Merlot Black under the conditions of Branicevo sand soil area [Yugoslavia]

The variety Red Merlot has been grafted on 23 rootstocks. It was applied five groups of the vine rootstocks. The rootstocks exihibited the big influence on the percentage on the taking of grape vine grafts, on the grape yield, on the content of sugar and total acids in must and on the percentage of the frozen buds. The results of the investigations show that the applied vine rootstocks exhibited the apparent influence on the properties of variety Merlot black in Branicevo sand soil area (Yugoslavia). Following the principes of the discrimination, the advantage in this sand soil area without any doubt reserve have the rootstocks from the group Berlandieri x Riparia, especially Kober 5 BB and its clones.
