Several insect species, apart from being pests of crops and animals, also cause considerable annoyance to mankind by their presence in urban buildings. During the last decade several clients approached the diagnostic services of the Research Station with different samples containing insect species found in their domestic environment. In this study the classification of the insect species was made based on their economic importance. The species are grouped as those that infest stored food products and materials (wood, textile), those that are parasites on human beings, the insects which have a preference for humid environments, and finally a group of insects coming in from the garden, the latter doing little or no damage.
