An effect of a rhizosphere component biocontrol agent Trichoderma viride on the developemnt, growth and yield of cucumber plants under the greenhouse conditions of large scale experiments was investigated. Two Netherlands varieties of cucumber ('Clasica' F1 and 'Concerto' F1, Rijk Zwaan) and a mutant of a stillborn fungi Trichoderma viride selected in the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology of Tartu University were used. The results of the experiments showed that during the first two months the growth of the treated plants was significantly more intensive compared to the control plants. A leafindex (LAI) of the treated plants was twice higher than that of the control plants. The variety 'Concerto' gave a higher yield until the end of the vegetation period and the yield was 2.5 kg/square metre compared with that of the control plants. In the case of variety 'Classica' Trichoderma stimulated the yield of cucumber plants only in the first half of the vegetation period. In the second period of vegetation the effect disappeared. The results of our experiments showed that under the production conditions it is possible to use Trichoderma viride T13-6 RCA as a biocontrol agent against several plant disease. More importantly, it can be used to accelerate the yield formation of cucumber plants in the first half of the vegetation period
