Magyar, L. (Mol-CHEM Kereskedelmi es Szolgaltato Iroda, Gyor (Hungary))
The author carried out surveys of the spreading of Mercurialis annua L. in chemically controlled and not controlled maize and sugar-beet stands in the different parts of Mosoni-plain. The surveys was carried out according to the counting of weed methods. The results are included in tables. It was established that the annual mercury is a frequent weed in Mosoni-plain. Among the 112 locations of surveys it was found in 108 locations (96,4 percent). In the not controlled maize plots the average was three times more (36 weeds/m2), than in the not controlled sugar-beet plots (13 weeds/m2). The weed was found in the greatest number in a not controlled maize field near Mecser. Here the averages was 143 weeds/m2. However, it could not be found some plots near Level and Hegyeshalom. The author registered the presence of this weed also in sunflower, oil-flax, potato, sping-barley and fodder radish plants. The data draw attention to the further expansion of Mercurialis annua L. and its presence in other cultivated plants. Therefore further surveys of its spreading and the working out of new weed control methods are important tasks in the near future
