Six sites were selected along a transect across the Great Zab River in Aski Kalak-Arbil. Sites were selected in a comparable locations on both sides of the river in order to study the distribution of Fe and Mn forms through the soil profile to relate to environmental factors. Amorphous Fe and Mn were extracted from soil 2mm with an ammonium oxalate-oxalic acid. Free Fe and Mn were extracted with sodium citrate-dithionite solution
