Mastitits - the inflammation of udder - is discussed. The pathogens causing udder inflammation, the conditions promoting the disease as well as its symptoms are explained. The necessary prophylactic measures for the control of mastitis are described. The frequency of mastitis in Denmark is stated. As in the latest time a tendency of the increase of mastitis has been observed, the conclusion is drawn that veterinarians must cooperate with the milk control bodies for the production of high quality milk free of pathogens harmful for human health.
