英语. The objetive of this study was to evaluate the effect of a commercial probiotic on the ocurrence of diarrheas inc alves. Thirty-six female calves with an average weight of 36.6 kg were randomly assigned to 4 concentrations of lactobacilli: 0 (Treatment 1); 0.5x10sup7 Colony Forming Units (CFU) (Treatment 2), 1.0x10sup7 CFU (Treatments 3), and 1.5x10sup7 CFU (Treatment 4). Each treatment gained throughout the suckling period. No differences were found among treatments for weight again the ocurrence of diarrheas. Se utilizaron 36 becerras de 36.6 kg de peso vivo en promedio. Los tratamientos fueron cuatro y consistieron en un tratamiento para el grupo testito y 3 diferentes concentraciones de probiotico (tratamiento testigo 1); tratamiento 2 con 0.5x10sup7 de unidades formadoras de colonias (UFC) de lactobacilos; tratamiento 3 cpm 1x10sup7 UFC; tratamiento 4 con 1.5x10sup7 UFC; cada tratamiento tuvo 9 repeticiones; los parametros a evaluar fueron: presentacion de diarreas y la ganancia de peso durante la etapa de la lactancia. No se encontraron diferencias estadisticas significativas para peso y diarrea, aunque se observo un efecto lineal significativo para diarreas
