Thirty five crops including 134 cultivars, 39 weed species and 30 onion varieties were screened for resistance to Meloidogyne graminicola at different times under greenhouse condition. Momordica charantia (bittergourd) except Jade Star, Dolichos lablab (batao), Vigna unguiculata sp x V. unguiculata sp sesquipedalis (bush bean), Daucus carota (carrot), Zea mays (corn) except one cultivar with while kernels, v. unguiculata (cowpea) except CCD 8, Cucumis sativus (cucumber), Solanum melongena (eggplant), Capsicum frutescens (hot and sweet pepper) except All Season, Ipomoea aquatica (kangkong), Cucumis melo (melon), Arachis hypogaea (peanut), Luffa cylindrica (sponge gourd), Cajanus cajan (pigeon pea), Raphanus sativus (radish) except Rond Ecalate race Loto, Phasedus vulgaris (snap bean) cv. BSU no. 1, Cucurbita moschata (squash) and Lagenaria seceraria (bottle gourd) were found to be poor hosts of M. graminicola and are therefore potential rotation crops in rice-vegetable farming systems in fields infested by this nematode. Some cultivars belonging to same species showed varying degrees of resistance indicating differences in reaction to nematode infection. Among the weeds, only six species remained uninfected by M. graminicola, namely: Cleome rutidosperma, Corchorus olitorius, Cyperus compressus, Dactylotenium aegyptium, and Stachytarpheta jamaicensis. The other weeds were either poor or good host of M. graminicola. All varieties of onion tested in this study were susceptible to M. graminicola. Since the major weeds found in rice-onion cropping system are susceptible and no variety of onion is resistant to M. graminicola, a good weed control and use of non-host crops to reduce initial population of the nematode are vital factors in nematode management in rice-onion production system
