The object of this experiment was to study the effect of long-term use of inorganic fertilizers on crop yield. The treatments consisted of 00-00-00 (control) 150-00-00(N), 150-75-00 (NP), 150-75-75 (NPK) and 150-75-150 (NPK2) kgs/ha as N, P2O5 and K2O, respectively. It was found that both the levels of K application did not give positive response for all the growth parameters of rice crop compared to NP which in turn was superior to N alone. The control being the lowest yielder. N application alone caused a significant reduction in phosphorus and potassium content but increased the nitrogen percentage of paddy and straw over control. The highest nitrogen and phosphorus percentage in paddy and straw were observed in case of NPK2 closely followed by NPK1 and NP alone.
