A field experiment was conducted to assess the effectiveness of nitrogen alone and in combination with phosphorus and potash on yield, yield components and N content of wheat plants at the Research Farm, Department of Soil Science, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. Results revealed that phosphate application along with N caused a significant increase in the number of tillers m-1 length, plant height, number of grains spike-1, 1000-grain weight, grain and straw yields compared to N alone which in turn was superior to control. The levels of K did not give positive response over NP application. Nitrogen alone increased the N contents over control whereas, the NP fertilization did not increase the N contents of wheat plants over N alone.
