Land concentration and income distribution in the Philippines

The paper closely re-examined the relationship between land concentration and income distribution of agricultural households between 1971 and 1991. The major findings indicate that despite the increasing concentration of landholdings, income distribution of agricultural households improved. The income distribution effect of land concentration loosened due to the spread of modern rice technology, the implementation of land reform, and the emergence of off-farm employment as a major income source
