Local Government Forest Regulatory Ordinances in the United States
1997
Siegel, W.C. | Martus, C.E.
Local government regulation of private forestry practices in the United States has increased dramatically in the last ten years. Population is continuing to shift from urban to more rural settings, and former urbanites have few ties to traditional agriculture and forestry. The heterogeneous pattern of regulation created by diverse and confusing ordinances could disrupt the forest economy that forest landowners would press for state level forestry-regulation to limit local regulatory authority.
