[The development of research concerning soil mineralogy in Romania]

The paper prezents the development of Roumanian soil mineralogy in the last fifty years from the first written by N. Cernescu. At the beginning, the investigation methods were elaborated and then the research concerning soil mineral characterization, the correlation between the mineralogical composition and soil properties and the distribution of clay minerals in Romanian soils.
