Effects of manure, sodium humate and nitrogen on the content of some heavy metals in spring wheat

Influence of heavy metals (Zn, Pb, Cd and Hg), organic matter and nitrogen added to the soil on the yield of spring wheat (variety Saxana) and its content in plants grown on loamy soil was studied in pot experiments. The results can be summarised as follows: the addition of heavy metals into soil decreased the yield and increased the concentration of Zn, Pb, Cd and Hg in grain and straw compared with the control treatment. The addition of organic matter alone or combined with nitrogen fertilizer at different rates increased significantly the yield of grain, straw amd decreased the Zn, Pb, Cd and Hg concentration in the plants. This positive effect of organic matter is supported by adequate nutrition of wheat
