Yield potential of some lucerne (Medicago sativa L.) genotypes

A collection of lucerne cultivars was evaluated on two experimental sites. Cultivars were evaluated from the viewpoint of forage production, growth dynamics, morphological traits, forage quality, seed production and seed characteristics. As for almost all the characters studied, the newly-bred Czecho-Slovak cultivars were better than the standard cultivar Palava. Of foreign cultivars, the best were Kiliana, Adonis, Triumf, Plauresa, Delfo, Eagle, Europe, Erecta and Apica
