Some economic aspects of forage production from grassland

Production costs of permanent grassland management were studied within research into agricultural systems in upland and mountain regions of Slovakia. Permanent grassland represents 61 % of the total agricultural area of Slovakia. Mechanization of forage production takes a marked share of total costs. The research was aimed at labour cost of tractor per hour, cost of technology at grassland harvesting, storage cost of roughage and cost of grazing husbandry management units. The study might assist in decision-making in purchasing machinery and equipment
