Study on rice cultivation culture in Ayuthaya province

Ayuthaya is a historical city and a civilization in rice cultivation where there are living, believe, ritual that improve the tradition system of rice cultivation is floating rice. The land for rice cultivation is changed by the environment and the landscape. Method of rice cultivation is broadcasting rice that has been used for a long time. For land preparation, we used a local plow, A local harrow and animal lobour. How we use new technology such as a tractor, a machine, there are varieties of rice especially floating rice varieties in Ayuthaya. The change of rice varieties is a little. We have used rice varieties selection from our ancestors such as by considering the compact panicles and brown rice that has not red colour. Development of irrigation, fertilization and pest control is slow. The post harvest is used new technology that makes the old technology changeable. The old farmers have believes and rituals for rice cultivation for instance Raekna, Raek Li, Raek when, Tam-Kuan-Kao, Bub-Kuan-Kao, Raek Keo ete. These ceremonies will be held on the date of calendar or predicted. The necessary things for these ceremonies are offering to the spirits, desert, flowers, incenses, candles, and dresses. The farmers have these ceremonies to respect mother rice (Mai Po-Sop) and they wish happinness and richness
