The effects of three different tillage systems: conventional, mulch tillage and no-tillage, and herbicide application: control (1), (Acetochlor+Dichlormid) + Atrazine (2), Rimsulphuron (3) and Nicosulphuron (4) on the weed number and mass, and maize grain yield were investigated. At the location of Stari Tamis, Pancevo (Yugoslavia) on the chernozem soil type the extreme dominance of Panicum crus-galli was realized. Between examined tillage methods did not appointed significant differences, as for weed number and mass, as well for grain yield of maize. Regarding to the control variant without herbicide application, on the all treatments significant decrease of weed abundance was obtained. The different efficacy of herbicide treatments was observed. Under exception of weed control measures significantly higher weed mass was confirmed on the variant fallowing with conventional tillage. Yield of maize decreased very significantly without herbicides.
