The present paper deals with effects of different quantities of sewage mud and npk fertilizers on the number of aminoautotrophes, aminoheterotrophes, nitrificators, and azotobacters in soil sown with potatoes. Numbers of all of the examined groups of microorganisms were in correlation with the system of fertilizing. The highest number of almost all of the examined microorganisms was found in variants fertilized with the highest dose of sewage mud. Introduction of sewage mud compared to mineral fertilizer caused greater increase in the number of microorganisms. With increase in the quantity of sewage mud, the number of all of the examined groups of microorganisms in all variants of the experiment was highest in soil at depths of 10-20 and 20-30 cm; moreover, their numbers were highest in the middle of the vegetation period and lowest at the beginning of the vegetation period of potatoes.
